I would say association is an accurate translation of the Swedish word förening.

I don't mind having a association as such either, when it's needed.

Although, I wonder this because How would for instance UF/FUF or whatever
they're called, react if abbenay starts to do stuff in the legal grey
or pitch black?

When I was involved in the baby steps of London Hackspace the discussion
tilted towards a strive for autonomy of any organisational body which
would try to restrict activities within the hackspace.

There is no purpose in its own to be part of any organisation such as FUF,
I would say.
