Very well documented and engineered from Cornell University students.

There are some in there i would like to build:

Modular and monitor-able power meter. Essentially your own "kill-A-Watt".

Traction Control System. Been thinking about electric VW combi Van. The cost
and parts these days are pretty simple.
When you have the electric motor in each wheel of the car, instead of on the
main drive shaft you can then have custom 4wd, traction control and ABS all
software controlled.
Most use a high speed low latency network from the wheel motors to the linux
computer. LON is the preferred protocol i have noticed.
SO these guys are showing the logic and hardware to pull it off.

Motor Controller blinds
The RF comms used for it are very simple and effective. Zigbee and Zwave are
crazy expensive. SO i like the custom RF aspects of this project.
